Honesty On A Date: Is It Worth It?
Why do you tend to please everyone around you? It’s not your responsibility to keep everyone happy. Is it? Although we tend to try our level best to stay true at all times, the thing changes when we are on a date.
A date is the first step of a meaningful relationship. It’s the moment where you decide whether you want to see that person again or not. But there are some things that we all can be guilty of. And that is not being completely true on a date. Isn’t that correct?
Why Aren’t People Honest On A Date?
When you meet someone for the very first time, and you want things to work out, you tend to please them. You look for ways to connect with that specific person because you are eager to build a bond with that person. Isn’t that the reason you are dating?
But in that process, although we try to speak the truth, we stretch the truth far enough to meet the expectations of the other person. How?
You might hide the fact that you love to read books, and you have your nose in one of the Harry Potter Novels because they might think you are a geek.
What Happens After That?
You stretched out the truth a little bit, you made the other person like you as you were seeking acceptance, and now you are going towards a relationship.
But let me ask you a question. How long will you put up with this? Can you pretend about things your whole life? Certainly not! And that is where things go downhill.
Once you create the sphere of connection by lying, it becomes difficult to maintain as time passes by, the truth unravels itself, and the bond is no longer alive.
The Awkwardness Is Often Exciting
What are you afraid of? The awkwardness? What if I tell you that the awkwardness is the reason your date can become exciting?
In the sense of awkwardness, we spur out some things about ourselves that might be funny, but they can open up a deep conversation where you get to know each other properly. Isn’t that worth it?
It Creates A Sense Of Connection
I get that speaking the truth can be a little difficult, and you can get really shy at first. But once you let it go and if the other person understands you, things can get beautiful. It opens doors for connection and deep meaning that ties both of your souls together in a graceful manner.
You Step Into The First Level Of A Relationship
The first step of the relationship is the most important one. You are actually setting the foundation of your relationship. And who wants their foundation to be based on mere lies? I know you don’t!
So why not tell the truth and set a meaningful relationship instead of risking it all because of some lies?
